When I landed at The Wall Street Journal I had coffee with then Deputy Managing Editor Dan Hertzberg. As I sat on his black leather couch in our old offices at 200 Liberty Street, he looked out the window and pointed towards Wall Street. ‘What more can a reporter want,’ he asked me. ‘It is all there — money, power and greed.’
The above is adapted from a goodbye note written by well-respected reporter Suzanne Craig, who is moving from the Wall Street Journal to the New York Times. The full text appeared this afternoon on Talking Biz News (and I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that dwarf-tossing is also mentioned!).
While I’m not one to be enamored of either money, power or greed, I sit a building away, focus on Wall Street stuff and think the above’s spot on.
