Worst Idea of 2008 Comes on December 30 →
Douglas A. McIntyre of BloggingStocks (who?) thinks the New York Times’ business section — which he says is “not unique” — should outsource its pages fully to Bloomberg News or the Financial Times. Uh, OK.

WatchWatch
While it looks like Warner Bros’ “Watchmen” film is still in legal disarray, News Corp’s MySpace just posted this new preview of the film (the two companies are in court now trying to sort out the rights issue). Sounds like there’s some positive news to be found in this, no?

Gawker Media to Sell Defamer  →
In the news about Gawker Media selling Consumerist to Consumers Union, Nick Denton drops the bomb that he’s looking to sell Defamer (with one interested party already). So, of the four city-focused blogs that Gawker Media once had, only the flagship title remains— and that is getting a more national focus.

– Via Silicon Alley Insider, it looks like Facebook Connect has shown impressive early returns for those content sites participating in the program. Putting aside the quality of the new commenters (an oxymoron, at best), this sounds like a winner in a down economy— and something that will...

Six Days
I have a full six days before I report back to work next Monday, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Between carving out some time for dinner and drinks with friends — as well as to tackle several books I want to read — I’ve managed to lightly schedule my week. As someone who is driven by his Outlook calendar, I must say, this is perfection personified. Let’s make every hour...

God bless Eater, they’ve put together a map showing all the dessert places that have now taken over the East Village here. Sometimes I wonder, though, what East Villagers of the 1970’s would think of this development— their little corner of the world overtaken by fro-yo (not that it had been created yet) and cupcakes. I think they would be both amused and horrified by this...

Southeners are such a naive, trusting bunch. (Athough, my take — from reading the article — is that the agent was likely put in a bad spot by his client.) But, still, haven’t the Braves ever seen “Entourage?” Never trust any type of agent.

PS: Watch Out for Evil Holiday Cards
Last Sunday, I traveled up to the Mohegan Sun to see your friend and mine — the Tumblrette Zorica — in a performance of ”The Nutcracker.” Twas a long train ride to get from NYC to Uncasville, CT, so I brought a bunch of holiday cards to do on the ride up. Was able to able to do a bunch, although I had to rip up a few as a result of the train version of turbulence. Like a...

How’s about this for an interesting idea? Cantor Fitzgerald is trying to create an exchange that would let traders buy warrants predicting movie openings, keying off of another property it has— the Hollywood Stock Exchange, a virtual ‘fantasy’ exchange where no real money trades hands.  Count me in, think I could make some money on this.

Happy Is Where I Be Now
A year or so back, a recruiter called me and asked if I’d be interested in moving across the country to be a part of a large bank’s PR team. Sounded like a great opportunity, but I quickly dismissed the possibility (I’m really happy in my current job, have been for a bit despite the long hours). NY Times Blows Away Competition During October
This is absolutely amazing to me: Nielson Online compiles a list of the top 10 newspapers — ranked by pageviews for the month of October. Editor & Publisher has the story.
